Shelby County

Shelby County is the fastest growing county in the state located off interstate 65 and highway 280.   The county is home to the 940 acre state park, Oak Mountain. The park offers vacation cottages, golf, pro shop with snack bar, camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, mountain bike trails, backpacking, a demonstration farm and horseback riding and equestrian campground facilities. There are many planned communities as well as traditional communities located in the Shelby County area.  Each community has its on flavor…small town city feel with locally owned boutiques, grocery and hardware stores.  The communities located off Interstate 65 are Calera, Helena,Pelham, Alabaster and Indian Springs.  Homes in these communities start in price at $250k.  The communities that are located off highway 280 are Oak Mountain, Chelsea, Inverness, Columbiana, Shoal Creek, Mt. Laurel and Vincent.  Homes in these areas price start at 400k.
